There are four kinds of Sewa:
Service to the Guru is fruitful and rewarding if one performs it devotedly.
Dhan di Sewa - service through wealth
This is Sewa where one contributes part of their earnings for charitable purposes.
Than di Sewa - service through the body
The willingness to sacriface ones’ own needs and dedicating time to physically carry out sewa in a humble manner.
Man di Sewa - service through the mind
To be able to show compassion, sympathy, understanding and support to those in need/prayer and contemplation on the name of God also falls within this.
Surat nal Sewa - service through awareness
Service through awareness of God’s presence. Recognising and accepting that each and everyone has God’s spirit within all His creations.
Any Sewa which is egoistic is no Sewa at all, all Sewa should be Niksham i.e. without desire for any personal gain. When carrying out Sewa in any form, at the same time continuously reciting Naam is doubly beneficial. Sewa is truly achieved if done with love and devotion.
