Egotism

Egotism and possessiveness are very enticing; egotistical pride has plundered everyone

Guru Nanak Dev Ji
1469-1539

Egotism is one of the biggest obsticles in achieving a state of spiritual bliss. Those who forever think and say 'I', can never appreciate what they have or respect the feelings and ways of other people. Stop your ego; think of others, have love in your heart and meditate as often as possible.

The Sikh Symbol

Ek Oankar

This is the Dharmic symbol of the Sikh Dharam (religion) which is derived from “Ek Oankar”.  “Ek” means "God is one", and relates to the Sikh belief in the oneness of God.  "Oankar” is a symbolic word meaning the Supreme Being, the Ocean of Knowledge and Bliss Absolute, “Oankar” therefore means GOD in His entirety.  “Ek Oankar” are also the first two words of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and also the Mool Mantar.

The Khanda

The Khanda is the other symbol of the Sikhs.  It constitutes three symbols in one. The name Khanda is derived from the central symbol which is the double edged sword, the Khanda represents the primal and almighty power of the Creator.  The circular symbol (Chakra) represents infinity.  Finally the two Kirpans on the outside symbolise the Spiritual (Piri) and Temporal (Miri) powers.
