Egotism

Egotism and possessiveness are very enticing; egotistical pride has plundered everyone

Guru Nanak Dev Ji
1469-1539

Egotism is one of the biggest obsticles in achieving a state of spiritual bliss. Those who forever think and say 'I', can never appreciate what they have or respect the feelings and ways of other people. Stop your ego; think of others, have love in your heart and meditate as often as possible.

Interview with Jay Singh Sohal

Name: Jay Singh Sohal

Age: 26

Location: Birmingham, UK

About Me
I'm a television journalist at ITV Thames Valley, where I produce news and report.

My Interests
Sport, reading books, writing stories, movies.

How did I get into Television?
By studying hard ... kind of! I've always been interested in politics so read that at Uni. But my one real skill is writing, and I've been working for newspapers and magazines since I was 16. This eventually led to trying out radio in New York, and setting my sights on TV after studying post-grad Broadcast Journalism. It happened a lot sooner than I thought (4 months after finishing my course) and I haven't looked back since.

Where do I get my inspiration from?
My parents and grandparents. I'm the oldest grandchild to migrant Panjabi, so seeing their hard work to establish our family has really spurred me on to go further.

My Ambitions in life
Have my own current affairs TV show, write a drama, produce an historic movie epic

My message to the Sikh youth
Know your heritage, and let it inspire you in everything you do.
